Inside View
The first thing I feel as soon as I turn on the S5 is that the UI is much prettier and dynamic. Let’s take a look at the more elaborate UI and new functions, which make the S5 that much better.
A more elaborate and dynamic UI
Change in the S5 can be felt with the change of UI. Small and big dots come together in the form of icons, and move around like living beings, which is fun for the eyes to see. Let’s take a look at the elaborate and dynamic new UI of the S5.
Basic Music Playing
No matter how great other functions are, how well it plays music, its original function, is decisively important for MP3 players. However, with the development of technology, music playing functions all seem to do middle or better. Therefore, a factor that can be compared is battery time when playing music, and the battery of the S5 goes on for around 24 hours, which is quite a long time. You can select from the following screens for the S5 music playing screen. A screen where music graphs or elaborate bright lines seem to dance, a screen where dots of different colors seem to shine brightly and fly high, an album information screen, and an album cover image screen. The files the product supports for music playing are as follows. Audio : MP3(MPEG1/2/2.5Layer3), WMA(48kbps~192kbps), OGG(Q1~Q10), AAC-LC(24kbps~128kbps).
Speakerphone function using Bluetooth
Bluetooth 2.0 support and the unique function of S5 possible with an internal speaker, the speakerphone. The Bluetooth function of the S5 adds sufficient uniqueness to the product. Other products can connect with a cell phone through Bluetooth, but changing into a speaker phone is quite unimaginable. Once you connect a cell phone with Bluetooth, you can make and receive phone calls, and if you open the speaker and place it on your desk, it becomes a small speaker phone. I could not hide my excitement when I first saw that the Bluetooth menu had a mobile phone function. Okay, so I know where the speaker is, but where is the microphone? I soon found out. If you push the slide, there is a microphone on the back of the speaker.
This is the process of connecting a cell phone using Bluetooth.
First, you select mobile phone in the Bluetooth menu, and attempt to connect with your cell phone.
If you find the device, it connects. If connection is successful, a phone icon is added next to the Bluetooth icon on the top of the screen. (Changes from left to right, as shown in the photo).
Once connected, you can make phone calls, and redial to a phone number that is left on record. The interface is a little inconvenient for making calls, but once the call is made, you can put it on your desk and use it as a speaker phone, and it does not get more convenient than this.

Bluetooth also includes file transfer and wireless headphone functions. The file transfer function is actually inconvenient to use because it is so slow. The wireless headphone function is useful if you want to get away from wires in knots, but there is the cost burden of having to purchase an additional pair of Bluetooth headphones.
A portable RSS reader with Datacast function
Another function that makes the S5 so good is the RSS reader function. If the website you frequently visit provides RSS function, you can gather the RSS feeds, and view new posts at one place, without having to visit the website. This is the RSS reader function. It is very surprising that you can actually do this with the S5. You use Media Studio to register with RSS and transfer registered blog information to the product, and you can then carry it around with you to read. One thing is that I though images would automatically be reduced to view, but you can only view texts.
I think it will be very useful to register news articles or other simple information blogs, transfer them in the morning, and read them on the way to work.
PMP functions
One part that is different about the S5 is that it supports videos. Videos are changed into an SVI file through Media Studio, and played in the S5. It does take a long time and is a little bit of a hassle, but it you find the right S5 communities, you can receive files other users have already changed. Videos supported are SVI(MPEG4, Audio: MP3(128kbps), resolution 208 x 176, Frame:15fps).
You can view a clean screen using the 1.8” TFT screen (176x220 pixels).
Photo viewer function
The screen performs well enough to view photos, as well as videos. If you go into the photo viewer menu, you can first see a photo list in the form of thumbnails, and if you select a photo, you can see it large. Since it is an MP3 device, there are very short pauses in the part that shows the thumbnail list.
Prime Pack function
The prime pack includes all the other functions. There is a text, voice recording, game, alarm, world time and audio input menu. I think the functions are a little minor to use the word ‘prime,’ which means most important. They are more like additional functions.
Radio function
I did not really listen to the radio because I was always listening to MP3, but one day, I started listening to the radio when I failed to update MP3 songs and got bored. Since then, I have come to realize how necessary a radio function is in an MP3 player. The S5 provides the basic functions of a radio. It has automatic preset and you can adjust radio reception, there is also a recording function, and you can adjust recording quality, too.
Ending the review...
We looked at the S5, which started from a concept of sharing music. The biggest characteristic of the exterior was that it was lighter and thinner, in reflection of user opinions, and that of internal function was the speaker phone function using Bluetooth. It was completely sufficient in functions, including video playing, photo viewer and radio, and I think it is fully qualified to provide enjoyment for the eyes and ears of users in the beginning of 2008.
